විලාස්නී තම්පෝ-හුටින්
වෙලුම් දෙකකින් සමන්විත වූ මේ කෘති එකතුවේ පළමු වෙලුමෙන් අවධාරණය කරණුයේ 1896 සිට 1928 දක්වා වූ කාලය තුළ දිගහැරුන ලංකාවේ සිනමා වංශකතාවේ මුල් යුගයේ එංගලන්තයෙන් හා ඉන්දියාවෙන් ලැබුන දායකත්වය පිළිබඳවය. එහිදී විශේෂයෙන් අවදාරණය වන්නේ මේ දෙරට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සිනාමාවේදයට අවැසි වූ යටිතල පහසුකම් සැපයූ ආකාරය හා මෙරට සිනමාවට අණුප්රාණය ලබාදුන් ආකාරය පිළිබඳවය.
දෙවන වෙලුමෙන් සිනමාව යන කාචය ඔස්සේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ජනවාර්ගිකත්වය හා සම්බ්න්ධ වාද විශයන් ගවේශනය කරයි. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සිනමාවේ මූලාරම්භය සමග විදේශීන් සමීපව සම්බන්ධ වී සිටි බැවින්, එය යම් ආකාරයේ ආධිපත්‍යයක් ලෙස ස්වදේශීන් විසින් දකින ලදී. මේ නිසා දේශීය සිනමාවක අවශ්‍යතාව පිලිබද සටන් පාඨයක් මේ ඔස්සේ මතුවීය. ඉතාලියානු නව-තාත්විකවාදයෙන් හා වර්තා චිත්‍රපටවලින් උකහාගත් නව ශෛලියක් ද සමගින් සිංහල සිනමාව 1948 දී උපත ලැබුවේ මෙරට යටත්විජිතවාදයෙන් මිදෙන මොහොතේදීමය.
මේ වෙලුම් දෙක මුලින්න්ම පළකරන ලද්දේ පැරීසියේ ල’හාමටන් ප්‍රකාශකයින් විසින් 2011දීය. 2023දී එහි සිංහල පරිවර්තනය තම්බපණ්නි විසින් පළකරණුයේ ඔවුන්ගේ අවසරය ඇතිවය.

Starting with a panorama of the early period of the cinema during British colonialism, the first volume that covers the period from 1896 to 1928 explores the role of Britain and India in the creation of the infrastructure of Sri Lankan cinematography as well as its sources of inspiration
The second volume looks at issues of ethnicity in Sri Lanka using the prism of cinema. The participation of foreigners in the birth of Sri Lankan cinema was seen as a form of domination that led to the inevitable claim for a indigenous cinema. Armed with a new grammar that drew from Italian neo-realism and the documentary genre, a Sinhalese cinema is born in 1948 at the very moment of the independence of Sri Lanka.
The book was first published in French by l’Harmattan, Paris in 2011 and will be published with permission by TAP in Sinhala in 2023.
